OBITUARY: Wayne Albert DeMaris, 1934-1978, Mitchell County, Iowa Attack Fatal to Wayne DeMaris Funeral rites were Friday afternoon for a St. Ansgar man, Wayne DeMaris, 43, who died at a Nora Springs Nursing home April 23. (1978). The Rev. Norman Betke, pastor, performed the rites at Immanuel Lutheran church in St. Ansgar and burial was in the St. Ansgar cemetery. Arrangements were by Schroeder and Dunn. Wayne Albert DeMaris, the son of Albert G. and Elna May Finch DeMaris, was born at Otranto May 10, 1934. He grew up in Otranto and Carpenter and attended schools there. Following his graduation he was employed by Carpenter Produce Company for 19 years and was self-employed for two years. July 28, 1957 he was united in marriage to Beverly Rawn. Mr. DeMaris had served as a member of the Carpenter Volunteer Fireman and as a town council member, and had been active working with the local Boy Scout program. They made their home in Carpenter until 1974, when they moved to St. Ansgar. Surviving are his wife, Beverly; two sons, Alan and Michael; two daughters, Linda and Julie all of St. Ansgar; one sister, Carol, Mrs. Gaylan Hempen of Clarksville; nine nieces and nephews.
