OBITUARY: Gea Mabel (Field) Norby, 1896-1988, Mitchell County, Iowa Gea Mabel Field Norby Gea Norby, 92, of Osage died Sunday March 27, 1988 at a Mason City hospital. Funeral services will be Wednesday March 30th at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church. The Rev. Roger Hoppenworth will officiate with burial in the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery. Gea Mabel Field was born March 7, 1896 in West Cedar Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, to Martin and Gunhild Moe Field. She attended the rural Cedar #7 school and graduated from the Cedar Valley Seminary in Osage. On June 5, 1919, she was married to Tillman Norby at her family home. They farmed in Rock Grove Township, Floyd County, IA until moving to Osage in 1961. She was a life long member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church where she was baptized, confirmed and was an active member of the Ladies' Aid and her church circle. Survivors include four sons: Robert and Raymond, both of Rudd, Harold of Nora Springs, and John of Osage. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters, Mina Wamstad and Olga Field and one brother, Oscar Field. Copyright 2005 Steve Norby
