OBITUARY: Alma (Frese) Ahrens, 1891-1966, Mitchell County, Iowa Alma Frese Ahrens Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church for Alma Ahrens, 75, who died of a heart attack at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital, Osage, Iowa on December 22, 1966. The Rev. Edward M. Lang, church pastor, was in charge of the service. Arrangements were by C.R. Champion and Sons and burial was in Calvary Cemetery. Alma Elisabeth Anna Frese, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Frese, was born February 2, 1891 in Cedar Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. She was baptized on March 30,1891 and confirmed on April 17 1904 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Cedar Township. She was united in marriage to Richard Ahrens at St. Johns Lutheran church on June 29, 1909. For many years the family lived four miles west of Osage. In 1940 they retired and moved to their home in Osage. Mrs. Ahrens assisted her son Earl in the operation of the Starlite Roller Rink from 1948 to 1963. She was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church and participated actively in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the Birthday Circle. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; one daughter, Erna, who died in infancy; and one brother, Albert Frese. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Alda Krahn of Osage; one son, Earl of Osage; one brother, Herb Frese of Osage; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Copyright 2005, Steve Norby
