OBITUARY: Hans Halvorson Dammen, 1855-1931, Mitchell County, Iowa Hans Halvorson Hans Halvorson (also known as Hans Halvorson Dammen) was born in Hedalen, Norway on July 7, 1855. He came to America in the spring of 1873. He worked on different farms the first years. In 1883 be bought land in Cedar Township, where he built himself a home and continued to live until the time of his death. The departed brother was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church of Norway and when coming to this community joined the Rock Creek Lutheran Church of which he was a member until his death. The following survive: one brother, Halvor Halvorson, and two sisters, Bertha Ask and Mrs. C. N. Odden. Mr. Halvorson had been in poor health for several years and about a week ago a stroke of apoplexy made him unconscious and entirely helpless. He died October 7, 1931. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. O C. Myhre at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, October 9, 1931, and interment was made in the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery. Copyright 2005, Steve Norby
