OBITUARY: Ferdinand William Handt, 1890-1925, Mitchell County, Iowa FERD. HANDT DIED SUDDENLY Family Found Him Dead Sunday Evening Upon Return Home After Being Away Short Time Ferdinand William Handt died very suddenly Sunday night at his farm home in Cedar township. He had not been feeling well that day and the doctor had been called. But that evening he was so much better his family went out for a short time and when they returned about 11 o'clock found that he had passed away. [Jan. 29, 1925] He was born Dec. 1864, in Pomerania, Germany Oct. 17, 1890, he was married to Miss Augusta Pasewald and in 1900 they came to American settling near Rudd, and have lived in that vicinity ever since, save for three years spent at La Porte City. To this union were born eight children, all living but one, Ernest, who died at the age of 21. The living are as follows: Herman, William, Carl and Alfred, Mrs. Anna Svingen, Mrs. Bertha Blond and Miss Emma Handt at home. He has twelve grandchildren. The brothers and sisters are August, Carl, Herman and Fred Handt, Mesdames Ernestine Lewki, Bertha Lewki, Augusta Elauwitz, Minnie Elauwitz, Emma Elauwitz; also his devoted wife. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home and at 1:30 at St. John's Lutheran church in Cedar Township, with Rev. Theo Frese in charge. Burial was in St. John's cemetery.
