OBITUARY: Harold O. Haugen, 1870-1949, Mitchell County, Iowa Harold O. Haugen Funeral services for Harold O. Haugen, 78, will be held Friday afternoon, April 8, 1949 at 1:15 at the Champion Funeral Home and at two o’clock at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church. The Rev. S.O. Sorlien will officiate and burial will be made in the Rock Creek cemetery. Mr. Haugen died Tuesday morning August 5, 1949 at his home near Osage. Harold O. Haugen was born December 9, 1870 in Valdres, Norway to Ole and Anne Haugen. He came to the United States in 1878 with his parents and sisters and they settled in West Cedar Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. In 1879 his father bought the farm in East Cedar Township known as the Dudley homestead. Mr. Haugen never married. He lived on the same farm with his sister, Nettie, all his life. Two years ago he suffered a stroke and he had been in ill health since. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Ole (Mary) Wahl and Nettie Haugen, both of Osage. There are also two nieces, Mrs. Kinley (Alice) Klemesrud of Nora Springs and Mrs. Olvin (Avilla) Moe of Osage. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters: Mrs. Annie Nelson, Mrs. Carrie Evenson, Mrs. Lena Larson, and Julia Haugen. Copyright 2005 Steve Norby
