The Reverend Cheryl Doely was officiant. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City, Iowa. Doris died on Saturday, April 9, 2005, at her home in Cedar Falls. Doris Denning was born March 2, 1920, the daughter of Martin and Olive (Woodiwiss) Havig in Osage, Iowa. She graduated from Osage High School in 1938. She married Vernon Brunner and they divorced in 1939. On June 24, 1950, she married William Denning in Nashua, Iowa. She was employed with Marr Knitting Mill (Fox River Mills) in Osage. Then she was employed with the Cedar Falls community food service at Holmes Junior High. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Allena Gardner and Gloria Bucknell. Her survivors include her husband, William of Cedar Falls, Iowa; two sons Michael (Sharon) Brunner of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Richard (Gloria) Brunner of Toeterville, Iowa; one daughter, LuAnn Dempsey of Old Town, Florida; three step-daughters: Vicki (Tom) Phelan of St. Louis, Missouri; Cynthia (Guy) Sorensen of Glouchester, Virginia; Julie (Rich) Driscoll of Evansdale, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Marlin Havig of Osage; Wayland Havig of Davenport, Iowa, and a sister, Marguerite Tosel of Mason City, Iowa.
