OBITUARY: Ruth (nee Tottenham) (Gilbrech) Henning, 1907-2005, Mitchell, Iowa [Based on obituary in the Mitchell County Press-News online, Feb. 23, 2005] Ruth Gilbrech Henning Funeral services for Ruth Gilbrech Henning, age 97, of Osage, Iowa, were held Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with the Rev. Dr. J. Samuel Subramanian officiating. Cremation will follow services with Inurnment later in the Osage Cemetery. Ruth died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at the Faith Home in Osage. Ruth was born June 26, 1907, in Kossuth County near Algona, the daughter of Henry and Edna (Snyder) Tottenham. She graduated from the Minneapolis School of Beauty and Culture. Ruth married Alvin Gilbrech on March 9, 1926 in Minneapolis. They moved to Osage and together operated Mari Posa Beauty Shop for 47 years. Alvin died on October 2, 1972. Ruth married Lars Henning of Latimer on May 24, 1975 at the First United Methodist Chapel in Osage. Lars died in 1980. Ruth wintered in Texas for many years. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alvin Gilbrech and husband Lars Henning; and a sister Effie Tottenham. Ruth is survived by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Ackland of Minn.; two step-sons, Owen (Juanita) Henning of Marco Island, Fla. and Wayne (Eva) Henning of Latimer; seven step-grandchildren, several step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived by special friends, Ed and Beverly Boehmer of Osage and their family: Sandy Roll, fiance Rod Harang and family of Lake Mills; the late Merle Boehmer, wife Laurie and family of Osage; Ken Boehmer, wife Kathy and family of Osage; Donna Forsyth, husband Mark and family of Charles City; Mary Bethke, husband Carl and family of Osage; and Jim Boehmer, wife Angie and family of Lake Mills.
