OBITUARY: Almond P. "Al" Hohn, 1919-2005, Mitchell County, Iowa [Based on obituary in the Mitchell County Press-News online, Jan. 26, 2005] Almond P. "Al" Hohn Funeral services for Almond P. "Al" Hohn, age 85, were Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at the St. Ansgar Catholic Church, St. Ansgar, Iowa, with Rev. Mark Reasoner officiating. Burial was in the St. Ansgar Cemetery, St. Ansgar. Al died on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage. Al was born on July 16, 1919 in Dimock, South Dakota, the son of Andrew and Mary (Bowar) Hohn. He was married to Rita Roth for over 60 years. Al farmed and later drove truck for various employers. Al was a people person, doing things for others before things for himself. He was a hard worker in providing for his family. He enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. Al dearly loved his children and grandchildren. Al was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. He is survived by his wife Rita of St. Ansgar; daughters, Mary Bzoskie and husband Bob of Kasson, Minn., Elaine Warner of Byron, Minn., and Marlene Lippitt and husband Dennie of Big Lake, Minn; sons, Gerald Hohn and wife Sue of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Dennis Hohn and wife Dawn of Ankeny, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one brother Victor Hohn of Woonsocket, S.D.; and many nieces and nephews.
