OBITUARY: Elsie D. (Schallock) Hyland, 1917-2005, Mitchell County, Iowa

Funeral services for Elsie D. Hyland, age 88, of Orchard, were held on
Monday, June 6, 2005, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage, Iowa, with
the Rev. Bruce Kaltwasser officiating. Interment was in the Osage Cemetery.

Elsie died Thursday, June 2, 2005, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health
Care Center.

Elsie was born in the rural Charles City (Iowa) area, on February 7, 1917,
the daughter of Emil and Martha (Eske) Schallock.  She was baptized and
confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Elsie married Stanley Hyland on October
27, 1935, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, Iowa. They lived
in Albert Lea from 1935 to 1942.  They then moved to Mitchell County; first
to the Little Cedar area, and later to the Orchard area. 

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley Hyland in
1992; one son Gerald Hyland; and five brothers, Orville, Lawrence, Lavern,
Emil, and Clarence Schallock.

She is survived by a son Gary Hyland and his wife Joanne of Orchard; a
grandson Jason Hyland and his wife Tricia of Waynesboro, Georgia; two
sisters, Olga Anderson and her husband Joseph of Orchard; Leona Warrington
of St. Ansgar; one brother, Lloyd Schallock and his wife Phyllis of New
Haven.
