OBITUARY: Guri Johnson, 1834-, Mitchell County, Iowa Mrs. Guri Johnson Mrs. Guri Johnson one of the oldest settlers of northern Iowa, died at her home in Hartland twp. Tuesday, Aug. 14 after a period of two years illness. The end came peacefully and those present at the deathbed could hardly perceive that she expired. The maiden name of the deceased was Guri Tollefson Rust; she was born in Gol, Hallingdal, Norway, Oct. 6, 1834. Came to America with her parents in 1843, settled at Rock Prairie, Wis., the same year and lived there until 1853 when they moved to St. Ansgar, Ia. May 30, 1859 she was united in marriage to Johnnes D. Johnson and moved to Shell Rock where they have lived ever since. Nine children were born to them two of which have gone before, the seven children living are: Andrine, Mrs. A. G. Hanson, Northwood, Iowa; Groe, Mrs. Jacob Reyerson, Mayville, N.D.; Michal who lives on the homestead; John, who lives in Hartland; Andrew, implement dealer at Hatton, N.D.; and Alfred cashier of Bank of Palermo, N.D.; and Martin, real estate and insurance agent, Barthold, N.D., she leaves besides her husband and children three sisters and one brother. Mrs. A.T. Tollefson, Mrs. P.H. Benson, Miss Anna Tollefson and T.M. Tollefson of St. Ansgar. The deceased was a kind mother, a good neighbor and a faithful wife, whose aim it was to educate her children to become good men and women, in which she was very successful. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to her neighbor, when occasion arose for her to do so. The remains were laid to rest at the Shell Rock cemetery. Those present at the funeral from abroad were, Martin Johnson, Barthold, N. D., Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Reyerson, N. D., T. M. Tollefson, Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Tollefson, Miss Anna Tollefson, P. H.
