OBITUARY: Kalmar Livius Klemesrud, 1901-1972, Mitchell County, Iowa Kalmar Livius Klemesrud Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Friday, for an Osage farmer, Kalmar Klemesrud, 71, who died Monday, May 8, 1972 at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage after suffering a stroke on Sunday. The Rev. Donald L. Berg, church pastor, will be in charge of the services at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church. C.R. Champion and Sons are making arrangements and burial will be in the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery. Kalmar Livius Klemesrud was born in West Cedar Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, on March 3, 1901 to Herman and Lise Dynna Klemesrud. He was baptized and confirmed at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, attended the rural schools in the area, and went on to enroll at Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa. Thelma Johnson and Kalmar Klemesrud were married on April 29, 1925. They became parents of one son, John Phillip. Mrs. Klemesrud died in 1960. Rosella Norby Ahrens and Kalmar Klemesrud were united in marriage on November 26, 1964. They farmed southwest of Osage in West Cedar Township. Mr. Klemesrud was a lifelong member of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church and had served on many boards and committees of the church. He was a member of the church's men's quartet and church choir. Survivors include his wife, Rosella; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ingvald (Alice) Sponheim, Mrs. Edwin (Helen) Maakestad, and Mrs. Louise Dieterichs, all of Osage; two brothers, Knud of Pewaukee, WI and Herman Ludvig Klemesrud of Indianapolis, IN; four step-children; one daughter-in-law; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his first wife, Thelma, who died July 3, 1960; his son, John in March 1970; his parents, three brothers and one sister. Copyright 2005, Steve Norby
