OBITUARY: Stanley E. Klemesrud, 1919-1977, Mitchell County, Iowa Stanley E. Klemesrud Services for the Rev. Stanley Klemesrud, 58, a Lutheran minister in Minnesota and former resident of Mitchell County were held Thursday, July 12th in Highland, MN and at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, rural Osage, Iowa. Rev. Klemesrud died Monday, July 11, 1977 in Highland, Minnesota. Bishop Elmos Argimson officiated at the Highland, Minnesota services, and the Rev. Paul Metzger, pastor of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, was in charge of the service at the church in the afternoon. Burial was made in the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery. Rev. Klemesrud had been serving a joint parish in Highland and Whalen, Minnesota for the past eight years. He and his wife were missionaries in Japan from 1953 to 1959 and he served several parishes including Six Mile Grove and Mona Lutheran churches. Stanley Elton Klemesrud was born January 1, 1919 in Cedar Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, to Syver and Ella Shoger Klemesrud. He was a graduate of Osage High School, St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota and Luther Seminary, St. Paul, Minnesota. Survivors include his wife, the former Selma Hagen; a daughter, Karen; two sons, Tim, at home and Paul, Winona, Minnesota; and a brother, Kinley Klemesrud of Osage, Iowa. Copyright 2005 Steve Norby
