OBITUARY: Peter Andrew Larson, 1879-1961, Mitchell County, Iowa Peter Andrew Larson (Press-News, Osage, Iowa; FEB 9, 1961, p5, col. 2) Funeral services were held Monday at the First Lutheran church in St. Ansgar [Iowa] for Peter A. Larson, 81, long time resident of the county, who died Thursday at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Don Hamilton was in charge of the services, and burial was in the church cemetery. Peter Andrew Larson, the son of Mrs. and Mrs. Peter Larson, was born on Dec. 23, 1879, in Brown County, Wisconsin. He was baptized Jan 4, 1889, at Green Bay, Wisconsin. He moved Dec. 3, 1884, with his family to a farm near Meltonville. He attended the grade school at Otranto and later was a student at the St. Ansgar Seminary for two years. He was confirmed July 14, 1894, at the Deer Creek Lutheran Church near Carpenter, by the Rev. Johann Olson. On Dec. 22, 1906 he was married to Elinora Gunderson. They farmed in this community. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1956. He had been taken seriously ill Nov. 12, and seemed to improve until he was stricken the day of his death. He was the last surviving member of his family, being preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and one sister. An infant daughter and a grandson also preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife and two children: Duane of Waterloo, Mrs. Raymond Feldt of Clam Falls, Wisconsin. Also surviving are six grandchildren and one great grandson. Copyright 2005, Paul Larson
