OBITUARY: Carl Niles, 1865-1932, Mitchell County, Iowa Carl Niles THREE MITCHELL COUNTIANS DIED THE PAST WEEK Carl Niles- Matt Wagner- John Gorman Answer Last Summons [Mitchell County Press- November 7, 1932] The remains of Carl Niles a former, well-known Mitchell man were brought to the old house from Mason City for burial last Thursday. Carl Niles was born in Germany November 29, 1865 and passed away at Mercy Hospital November 7, 1932. When he first came to this country he and his family lived in Mitchell County later moving to Mason City. Mr. Niles left to mourn his departure seven children as follows: Mrs. Martha Van Hooser, Rockwell, Mrs. Emma Baldwin, Osage, Mrs. Rosa Gue, Chester, Mrs. Anna Green, Davenport, Mrs. Ida Tatum, Mason City, Alfred and William of Plymouth. There are twenty one grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. His wife and three of their children preceded him in death. Funeral services were conducted in Mason City at the McAuley Funeral Home at 2:00 o'clock Thursday, November 10th by the Rev. Oswald Mall, pastor of the German Lutheran church. The remains were taken to Mitchell for burial. Six of Mr. Niles grandsons acted as pallbearers. Copyright 2005 - Marilyn Oconnor
