OBITUARY: John Gerhard Olson, 1864-1928, Mitchell County, Iowa John Gerhard Olson John Gerhard Olson was born in Cedar Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, on February 2, 1864 to Levor and Ingeborg Uhlen Harrolsen Olson. The years of childhood and youth were spent in the parental home. On June 12, 1895, he was united in marriage with Emma J. Eliason of the Meroa community. With the exception of a year and a half spent traveling the west coast and fourteen years of residence in Osage, he has always lived in the Rock Creek community. He returned to his farm about two years ago. About ten years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Olson too the kind and charitable step of adopting two orphans, Lester and Edna. Besides the above-mentioned wife and children, the following near relatives survive: one brother, Lauritz Olson of Detroit, MN [?] and one sister, Mrs. Henry Lee of Grafton, North Dakota. Mr. Olson was baptized, confirmed, and married in the Rock Creek Lutheran Church. This church has always been his spiritual home. He held positions of trust in the church and was a loyal and active member until his death. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. O.C. Myhre in the Rock Creek Lutheran Church on March 6, 1928 and interment was made in the Rock Creek cemetery. Copyright 2005, Steve Norby
