OBITUARY: Peter J. Peterson, 1862-1932, Mitchell County, Iowa Peter J. Peterson Peter Jacobsen Peterson, a farmer in the Rock Creek neighborhood, passed away on March 23, 1932 following a stroke of paralysis. He has been in poor health for many years. Mr. Peterson was born at West Salem, Wisconsin, on March 13, 1862, the son of Jacob Peterson Bjorge and Sissel Olsdatter. In 1870, he came with his parents to Floyd County, Iowa, where his father bought a small tract of land. After the death of his parents, he bought the homestead on which he continued to live until the time of his death. He was a member of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church and took an active interest in its affairs. The following are the only near relatives surviving: his sister, Mrs. Gina Johnson, of Orchard, IA; and three brothers; John, of Mason City, IA; Syver and Martin, both of this community. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. O.C. Myhre at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church on March 30, and interment was made in the Rock Creek cemetery. Copyright 2005, Steve Norby
