OBITUARY: Sever J. Peterson, 1870-1945, Mitchell County, Iowa Sever J. Peterson Sever J. Peterson, 75, died at his farm home Saturday evening, March 26, 1945 after a long illness with a complication of diseases. While he had failed rapidly in recent months, he was about his farm until the week of his death. Mr. Peterson was born on February 7, 1870 in Rudd Township, Floyd County, Iowa. The farm where he was born was located just two miles west and one-half miles south of the farm where he resided at the time of his death. His parents were Jacob and Sedsel Peterson. He was united in marriage to Emma Nelson on April 9, 1908 and to this union was born one daughter, Stella (Mrs. Claire Wrage), with whom he made his home during his last years. Not only had Mr. Peterson been a life-long member of this community, but of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church as well. In this church he was both baptized and confirmed. He had always been regular in attending the worship service and was in his accustomed place in church as long as he was able to be there. Preceding him in death were his wife, his parents, four sisters, two brothers, and an infant granddaughter, Irene Wrage. Surviving are his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Claire Wrage, three grandchildren, and a brother who lives on the old homestead. Funeral services were held Wednesday March 28, 1945 at 1:00 p.m. at the Champion Funeral Home and at 1:30 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church. The Rev. C.B. Gunderson was in charge of the service and burial was made in the Rock Creek cemetery. Copyright 2005, Steve Norby
