OBITUARY: Rose (Firsching) Rauen, 1918-2005, Mitchell County, Iowa Rose Rauen A Mass of Christian Burial for Rose Rauen, age 86, of Stacyville, Iowa, was held on Monday, March 21, 2005, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with Rev. Mark Reasoner officiating. Burial was in the Visitation Cemetery in Stacyville. Rose died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home. She was born June 2, 1918, in St. Ansgar, the daughter of George Sr. and Therese (Biederer) Firsching. She attended the Visitation Catholic School in Stacyville. Rose married Arthur Rauen on December 30, 1941 at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville. She was employed at the Stacyville Nursing Home for 17 years, retiring in 1984. During her nine year stay at the Stacyville Nursing Home she developed many friends among the staff and residents. Rose was a member of the Christian Mothers and a member of the Visitation Catholic Circle. Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Arthur in 1997; two daughters, Diana Rauen and Bernice King; one sister Margaret Schmitt; two brothers, Lawerence Firsching and George Firsching Jr.; and one son-in-law Leonard Allen. Left to cherish her memory are: three daughters, Dorothy (Nathan) Mullenbach of Adams, Minnesota; Marilyn (Larry) Motzer of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; and Ruth Jones of Chicago, Illinois; one son, Gene (Marcia) Rauen of Austin, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great- granddaughter. Also surviving are: four sisters, Alma Retterath of Stacyville, Laura Firsching of San Pedro, Calif., Gertrude (Fred) Retterath of Austin, Minnesota, Theresa Ungaro of San Pedro, Calif.; one brother, Joe (Helen) Firsching of Mason City; and a sister-in-law Cordella Firsching of Stacyville.
