OBITUARY: Paul William Retterath, 1921-2005, Mitchell County, Iowa




                        Paul William Retterath

A Mass of Resurrection for Paul W. Retterath, age 83, of rural Riceville,
Iowa, was held on Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at the Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church in Riceville, Iowa, with the Reverend Ray E. Atwood
officiating.  Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery in Riceville.

Paul passed away at his residence on Friday, March 25, 2005.

Paul William Retterath was born on the family farm in rural Meyer, Iowa, on
June 21, 1921, to Joseph J. and Anne (Klockner) Retterath. Paul attended
local schools.   On September 28, 1949 he was united in marriage to Mary
Catherine Schwieger at the Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville, Iowa.
Paul loved farming and continued until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary in 2002, two brothers,
Alfred and Lawrence and a sister Marcella Winkels.

Paul's survivors include three sons Charles of Chester, Iowa, Ronald and
his wife Terri of Elma, Iowa and Gary and his wife Jenifer of Riceville;
two daughters: Sharon and her husband Robert Hanson of Fredericksburg, Iowa,
Linda and her husband Richard Fagerness of Princeton, Minnesota, thirteen
grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; three sisters: Marie Rauen,
Isabele Gilgenbach; Margaret Gerber her husband Robert all of Adams,
Minnesota., and a brother-in-law, Arthur Winkels of Adams, Minnesota.

The Lindstrom Funeral Home, Riceville, Iowa was in charge of arrangements.
