OBITUARY: Helen (Pitzen) Reynolds, 1912-2005, Mitchell County, Iowa Helen Reynolds A Mass of Christian Burial for Helen Reynolds, age 92, of Stacyville, was held Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with Rev. Mark Reasoner officiating. Burial was in the Visitation Cemetery in Stacyville, Iowa. Helen died Thursday, March 3, 2005, at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home. Helen was born August 19, 1912, in Stacyville, the daughter of William and Amy (Kinney) Pitzen. She graduated from the old Visitation High School in 1930, and then attended the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul. After the premature death of her father in a hunting accident, she and her mother moved to Wisconsin, where her married sister was living. Helen then attended the Business College in Milwaukee, after which she was employed in a General Motors Office in Janesville, Wisconsin, for several years. It was here that she met her husband, Jim. They were married on Feb. 18, 1939, and had been happily together for 63 years when Jim passed away in August of 2002. When World War II broke out, Jim was transferred to a plant in Bay City, Mich., where they lived for five years. Following a year in Flint, Mich., they moved to Milwaukee, where they spent the next 24 years. While living in Milwaukee, Helen was employed for 11 years at the First Wisconsin National Bank. Helen was an excellent pianist. After retirement, she and Jim lived in several places, including Roswell, New Mexico, and Bellevue, Nebraska, before retiring to Stacyville in the fall of 1988. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jim Reynolds; and a sister, Alice Pospeschil. Helen is survived by her son William Reynolds of Chicago, Illinois, a niece Susan Olson-Mandler and a nephew Fred Pospeschil. The Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, was in charge of arrangements.
