OBITUARY: Laura V. Severson McGillivray Rustad, 1898-1991, Mitchell Co., Iowa Laura V. Severson McGillivray Rustad Funeral servies for Laura V. Rustad, 93, of St. Ansgar, who died Saturday, September 7, [1991] were held Tuesday, Sept. 10 at First Lutheran Church here with the Rev. Robert Porisch officiating. Laura V. Severson McGillivray Rustad was born July 8, 1898 in Barton Township in Worth County to Andrew and Julia Ellingson Severson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Deer Creek Lutheran Church, Carpenter, by the Rev. M.E. Waldeland. She attended Willow Grove School in Barton Township and Cedar Valley Seminary, Osage, graduating in 1917. She taught country school in Worth County and attended Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, for one year. November 25, 1920, she was united in marriage to Leslie McGillivray and they lived on a farm near Rose Creek, Minn., for ten years, moving to a farm near Carpenter in 1930. After her husband Leslie was killed in a farm accident in 1950, she continued farming with son Curtis until 1955 when she moved to St. Ansgar. In 1964 she married Rueben Rustad of Northwood and lived in that city until his death. In 1978 she moved back to St. Ansgar and has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center since 1984. She was an active member of her church and community wherever she lived. She is survived by her daughter, Audrey McKinley and husband, Hal of St. Ansgar; son, Curtis McGillivray and wife Delores of Rochester, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Bryan and Mark McKinley of St. Ansgar; Nancy McKinley of Dayton, Minn.; Steve McGillivray of Eugene, Oregon; Leslie Kay McGillivray of Rochester, Minn.; five great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters and 13 step-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Boston of Waterloo; one sister-in-law, Agnes Severson of Carpenter. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Orvie, one sister, Bella an two stepsons, Harold and Curtis Rustad. Burial was in First Lutheran Cemetery, in St. Ansgar.
