OBITUARY: Effie (Shoger) McKee 1905-1968, Mitchell County, Iowa Effie Shoger McKee Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for a rural Orchard woman, Mrs. Alvin McKee, 63, who died Thursday at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital. Mrs. McKee had been in failing health for several months. The Rev. Donald Berg, pastor, was in charge of the services at Rock Creek Lutheran Church and arrangements were by C.R. Champion & Sons. Burial was at the Rock Creek cemetery. Effie Irene Shoger was born July 20, 1905 in Cedar township, Mitchell county, the daughter of Cornelius and Nettie Johanson Shoger. She was baptized and confirmed at Rock Creek Lutheran church and remained a member all her life. She attended the rural schools of the county. She was also active in the woman's circles of the Rock Creek Lutheran church. Alvin Joseph McKee and Effie Shoger were married Nov. 5, 1924 and lived all their married life in Mitchell and Floyd counties. Her father, Cornelius Shoger and her brother, Clifford, preceded her in death. Surviving are her husband, Alvin of Orchard; her mother, Nettie Shoger of Osage; three children, Verle McKee of Orchard, Mrs. Arthur Altick (Audrey) and Mrs. Stanley Krones (Phyllis) of Osage, 11 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers James Shoger of Nora Springs and Fred Shoger of Osage.
