OBITUARY: Dorothy (Shrode)(Johnson) Graff, 1904-2005, Mitchell County, Iowa Originally Posted on www.mcpress.com, May 18, 2005 -- Edited by IaGenWeb Dorothy (Johnson) Graff Funeral services for Dorothy (Johnson) Graff, age 101, of Osage, and formerly of Little Cedar, were held Saturday, May 14, 2005, at the Little Cedar United Methodist Church with Rev. Jay Amundson and Rev. Robert Melhorn officiating. Burial was in the Little Cedar Cemetery. Dorothy died Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at Faith Lutheran Home, Osage. Dorothy was born May 5, 1904 on the family farm near Riceville, the daughter of Charles and Alice (Smith) Shrode. She graduated from Riceville High School and was a teacher in country schools for 3 years. Dorothy married Peter L. Johnson in June of 1928 in Austin, Minn. They lived in Little Cedar. Peter died in July 1967. She married Irvin Graff in February 1974 and moved to Greenville, Ill. Following Irvin's death she moved to Osage. orothy was a long time member of the Little Cedar United Methodist Church and was an active member of the U.M.W. In later years she attended the United Church of Christ in Osage. She found joy in her family and friends, gardening, and flowers. Dorothy enjoyed making quilts for family members and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Peter Johnson; husband Irvin Graff; sister Ethel Shrode; and brother Milton Shrode. She is survived by five sons: Robert C. (Roslea) Johnson, Des Moines; Carroll J. (Betty) Johnson, Little Cedar; Dale L. (Sandra) Johnson, Waverly; Keith A. (Sharon) Johnson, Goodell; Merle L. (Dorothy) Johnson, Bayview, Idaho; seven grandchildren, Janice Johnson, Gypsum, Colo.; Douglas Johnson, Little Cedar; Roger Johnson, St. Ansgar; Jennifer Johnson, Oakland, Calif.; James Johnson, Boulder, Colo.; Michelle "Mic" Burmeister, Kennett Square, Pa.; Darrin Johnson, Polk City; numerous great-grandchildren; one brother Donald Shrode of Calif.; and extended family, Eldon Graff; Joyce Hasenmyer; Vernon Graff; Burton Graff.
