OBITUARY: Duane Ronald Troge, 1934-1997, Mitchell County, Iowa [Based on Obituary in Mason City Globe Gazette; November 25, 1997] Duane R. Troge CHARLES CITY, IOWA-- Duane R. Troge, age 63, of #63 Bayou Dr., Nashua, died Sunday (Nov. 23, 1997) at his place of business, The Home Base in Charles City, after suffering an apparent heart attack. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Main and Gilbert Streets, Charles City. The Rev. Karen Rask Behling, associate pastor, will officiate. The Fullerton Hage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Duane Ronald Troge was born May 19, 1934, in Charles City, the son of Fred A. and Elsie M. (Morische) Troge. He attended school in Charles City and graduated from Charles City High School in 1953. On Aug. 8, 1964, he was united in marriage to Gretchen Evenelle Kittelson. In 1980, Duane left the field of construction supply sales to begin a life-long dream--it was at that time he opened The Home Base. Living family members include his wife, Gretchen; a son, Troy Troge of Ossian; a daughter and her husband, Tracy and Dean Barth of Decorah; three grandchildren, Kyle Troge and Jacinda and Jania Barth.
