OBITUARY: Ruth Edith Ella (Von Bergan) Johnson, 1910-1998, Mitchell Co., Iowa Ruth Johnson OSAGE, IOWA -- Ruth Johnson, 88, of Osage, died Wednesday (Dec. 2, 1998) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Home, Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Champion Funeral Home, 702 State St., with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Ruth Edith Ella Johnson was born Aug. 5, 1910, near Otranto, in Mitchell County, the daughter of John and Bertha (Stangohr) Von Bergan. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church, in St. Ansgar. Ruth graduated from Otranto High School in 1928. Ruth married Alvin Johnson on Oct. 14, 1930, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They farmed for 50 years on a farm north of Orchard. After the death of her husband, Alvin, in 1983, she moved to Osage. She is survived by one daughter, Doris Condon and her husband, Richard, of Chandler, Arizona; two granddaughters, Doreen Wagner and her husband, Bill, and their children, Megan, Katie, Andie and Julie, of Valley Center, Calif.; and Annette Miller and children, Travis and Beth, of Olympia, Washington.
