OBITUARY: Sanford M. Button, 1831-1911, Mitchell Co., Iowa [Osage News] Sandford M. Button Born Nov. 12th 1831 Died Sept. 10th 1911 Mr. Sandford M. Button was born in Syracuse, New York, on November 12th, 1831 and passed away at his home in Osage on September 10th, 1911. He served two years in the Civil War and after the war moved with his parents to Melrose, Wisconsin. In 1870 he was married to Miss Martha Campfield and they made their home at LaCrosse, Wisconsin, until 1878 when they came to Mitchell County, and settled on a farm near Riceville. Here they lived until 1895, when he retired from the farm and took up his residence in Osage. He was the father of six children, two boys and four girls, four of whom survive him, namely; Charles, of Riceville, Mrs Jessie Case of Osage, Mrs. Alice Case of McIntire, and Mrs Sylvia Fuller of McIntire. His wife also survives him and five brothers, one sister, and twelve grandchildren. Mr. Button was a loving husband and kind father, always ready to do a kind act and was highly regarded by all. The funeral was held from his late residence on Tuesday afternoon, services being conducted by Rev. F. W. Court of the Methodist Episcopal church. Interment was in the Osage cemetery.
