OBITUARY: Nellie (Featherstone) Cummings, 1861-1899, Mitchell Co., Iowa

                       Nellie Featherstone Cummings

Nellie Featherstone Cummings was born in Rock county, Wisconsin, Jan. 18, 
1861, and died at her home near Fuller, Mitchell County, April 16, 1899. She 
was married to Myron Cummings Nov. 25, 1896. Last summer they adopted a girl 
baby, whose life-has seemed to hang in the balance since her birth. On the 
morning of the day of the funeral, little Esther Edna's life went out and the 
body was tenderly laid to rest in the casket with her foster mother. Mrs. 
Cummings was a model home maker, a faithful wife, and a kind mother to her 
adopted child.

The Pleasant Valley M. E. Church and community have each lost a valuable 
member. 

The funeral was conducted by Rev. Geo. B. Crinklaw in the Pleasant Valley
church, and the body interred in the Osage cemetery, a large number of 
neighbors and friends being present.
