OBITUARY: Cassel Wiger Danielson, 1906-1982, Mitchell County, Iowa [ Original obituary printed in St. Ansgar Enterprise, December 23, 1982 ] Cassel Danielson Funeral Held Here December 21 Private funeral services for Cassel W. Danielson, 76, of St. Ansgar, who died December 18, 1982, at Mitchell County Memorial hospital, Osage, were held December 21, 1982, at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home here with the Rev. Norman Betke, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran church, officiating. Cassel Wiger Danielson was born in Northwood October 13, 1906, the son of John E. Danielson and Inga Louise (Wiger) Danielson. He was baptized by the Rev. Siljan at Deer Creek Lutheran church, Northwood. He was confirmed at First Lutheran church in St. Ansgar by the Rev. M.E. Waldeland April 9, 1922. He attended and graduated from St. Ansgar elementary and St. Ansgar high school. As a young man he served his country in the U.S. Army. He married Ethel Benecke December 18, 1944 at Immanuel Lutheran church in Minneapolis, Minn., with the Rev. Schupman officiating. Two children were born to them. Mr. And Mrs. Danielson made their home in East Grand Forks, Minn., and Algona before moving to St. Ansgar in 1950 when he became a member of Immanuel Lutheran church. Mr. Danielson worked for the Iowa Department of Agriculture until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion here. As a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran church he served as an officer of the congregation and served many years up to the present as the Membership Representative of Lutheran Laymen's League for the Immanuel Men's club. He is survived by his wife, Ethel, a daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Marjorie) Delgado of Burnsville, Minn.; a son, John, Clear Lake; two grandchildren, Lisa and Rich Delgado and a host of friends. Mr. Danielson was preceded in death by his parents. Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Betke in charge of committal services. Copyright 2005 - K.L. Kittleson
