OBITUARY: Katherine (Deering) Annis, 1866-1960, Mitchell Co., Iowa (Feb, 27, 1960) Mrs Katherine Annis, Daughter of Pioneer Family Dies Here Funeral services were held here Thursday afternoon for a lifelong resident of Mitchell county, and Prominent Osage woman, Mrs Katherine Deering Annis, 93, who died Saturday evening. Mrs. Annis had been in failing health for several months. Services were held at the Congregational church in Osage, with the Rev. Norman Books, church Pastor in charge. Arrangements were made by C. R. Champion and Sons, and burial was in the Osage Cemetery. Katherine Deering was born on a farm east of Osage, Nov. 21, 1866, the daughter of pioneer residents of the county, Mr. and Mrs Charles Whitaker, and was married to Frank W. Annis in 1886, and lived in Osage all of her life with the exception of a few years in her childhood, when she lived in Minneapolis. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lester Ahrens Sr., Osage, a nephew, Thornas W. Barnard of Seattle, Wash., one niece, Mrs. Katherine Barnard Warner of Minneapolis; three grandsons, and seven great-grandchildren. This obituary is not to be used for commerical purposes.
