OBITUARY: George Wilhelm Albert Dieterich, 1892-1982, Mitchell County, Iowa [ published in St. Ansgar Enterprise, May 27, 1982 ] George W. Dieterich Funeral Held Immanuel Lutheran Funeral services for George W. Dieterich, 89, longtime St. Ansgar area farmer, who died May 20 at Mitchell County Memorial hospital, were held May 22 at the Immanuel Lutheran church here with the Rev. Norman Betke officiating. George Wilhelm Albert Dieterich, the son of Friederich and Anna, nee Hartwig Dieterich was born in Floyd county December 10, 1892. He was baptized by the Rev. Hantel January 9, 1893 at Immanuel Lutheran church, St. Ansgar. He was confirmed April 12, 1908 and became a communicant member of St. John's Lutheran church, Cedar township. He was instructed by the Rev. August Miller. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school. October 10, 1920 he married Wilma Erdmann at St. John's Lutheran church, Rock township. Two sons, Frederick and Hubert, were born to them. Mr. and Mrs. Dieterich made their home and engaged in farming in Rock township, until moving to their home in St. Ansgar in 1955. They became members of the Immanuel Lutheran church here January, 1956. In the fall of 1980 they became residents of the Faith Home in Osage. He is survived by his wife, Wilma; two sons, Frederick and Hubert; four grandchildren, Maurice of Athens, Greece; Michael of Burlington; James of Chatfield, Minn. and Gary of Rudd; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Morische and Mrs. Anna Brandau. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alvin and Herman; sisters, Delia and Minnie Dieterich, and Mrs. Clara Troge and twins who died in infancy. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Betke in charge of committal services. Copyright 2005 K.L. Kittleson
