OBITUARY: Carrie L. (Fedge) Fods, 1845-1914, Mitchell County, Iowa [ Osage News September 24, 1914 ] Mrs. Carrie L. Fods Born: Oct. 23, 1845 Died: Sept. 11, 1914 Mrs Carrie L. Fods was born in Sojn, Norway, on Oct. 23, 1845 and died at her home in the western part of Rock township on Sept. 11, 1914. Mrs. Fods was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Fedge. When about one year old her parents came to America and settled near Madison, Wis. Here she grew to womanhood and was married to Ole J. Fods in November, 1864. To this union were born 14 children, of whom 12 are living. Her son Oscar died at the age of twenty-seven. Her aged husband and the following named children survive: Louis of Los Angeles, Cal.; Andrew of Coulton, S. Dak.; John of Yorkton, Canada; Edward, Tom, Emma and Rode of Sherwood, N. Dak.; Albert of Charles City; Ida of Poynette, Wis., Paul, Olaf and Clara at home. Two sisters, Mrs. John Hove of Northwood and Mrs. B. O. Flesche of Albert Lea and 26 grandchildren survive. Mr. and Mrs. Fods came to Mitchell county 46 years ago and settled on the farm which has since been their home. Here they held a family reunion six years ago and had all of their thirteen children home for a few days. Had Mrs. Fods lived until November they could have celebrated their fifieth wedding anniversay. The funeral was held on Tuesday, Sept. 15. A short service in English at the home was followed with a service in the Norwegian language at the Rock Creek church of which she was a member. Nine of her children were present, her six sons being pallbearers. Other near relatives from a distance who were present were Mr. and Mrs. John Hove of Northwood, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Haugen and Louis Fedge of Albert Lea and Mrs. Ole Hanson of Adams, Minn.
