OBITUARY: Lena (Hatcher) Thomas, 1875-1919, Mitchell Co., Iowa [Mitchell County Press -- November 26, 1919] Mrs. George Thomas Is Dead Passed Away Saturday and was Buried from the Baptist Church Monday Afternoon, December 24. Mrs. George Thomas passed away Saturday morning at her late home in the 2nd ward, at the extreme north end of 5th street, and her funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Baptist church, the Rev. A. S. Cross officiating. Mrs. Lena Thomas was born April 12, 1875, near Orchard, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Hatcher. She was married to Mr. Jefferson Skelton in October, 1898, and lived on different farms in that vicinity until 1908, when they moved to Danville, Illinois. Not satisfied there, they returned here two months later and settled again on a farm near Orchard. A short time later her husband passed away. On the 1st day of November, 1911, she was married to Mr. George Thomas and since that time has lived in Osage. She leaves to mourn her earl going, her husband, a daughter, Lillian Skelton, two stepchildren, two brothers, a sister, and a legion of friends, all of whom revere the memory of a good woman.
