OBITUARY: George Eldon Henderson, c1857, Mitchell Co., Iowa


Jan. 8, 1857 --

DIED: At Mitchell on the 5th inst. of croup, George Eldon, son of
Stephen H. and Elizabeth S. Henderson, age 3 years and 4 months.

                 "The once-loved form, now cold and dead,
                      Each mournful thought employs;
                    And Nature weeps, her comforts fled,
                        And withered all her joys.
          
                 Hope looks beyond on the bounds of time,
                        When what we now deplore,
                    Shall rise in full immortal prime,
                        And bloom to fade no more."
