                Margaret Stevenson Hutchins - Obituary

                    March 10, 1812 - April 27, 1900

Mrs. Margaret Hutchins died at the home of her son Barton, Friday, at 1:30
p.m., of old age.  Her age was 88 years, 1 month, 17 days.  She has reared
a family of nine children, five of whom are living.  Her husband died
22 years ago.  Since 1868 she has made hes [her] home with her son Barton.
Monday her body was taken to Nashua for interment.  The family desire (sic)
to thank those who kindly assisted them in the sickness and death of their
mother.

[Note: I calculated the date of birth for Martha Stevenson based on
information in her obituary (above).  This is somewhat different from what
was recorded by census enumerators over the years.  In 1850, she reported
her age as 34, in 1860 as 44, in 1870 as 65, in 1880 as 66, in 1885 as 70
and in 1895 as 83.  The only census where the age is consistent with the
birthday of 1812 was the state census taken in 1895.]

funeral of Mrs. Hutchins.

Mr. and Mrs. Bart Hutchins went to Nashua Monday to accompany the remains
of Mr. Hutchins' mother.
