OBITUARY: Nels Jenson, 1847-1911, Mitchell Co., Iowa Mr. Nels Jenson Born October 3, 1847 - Died April 22, 1911 Nels Jenson was born in Carlby, Jylland in Denmark, October 3, 1847, where he was baptised and confirmed. He was united in marriage to Mette Sorenson May 8th, 1873. In this union was born seven children, six sons and one daughter. The sons are Soren and Waldemar, near Carpenter, Iowa; Bert near St. Ansgar, Iowa; Anton J. St. Louis, Mo.; Martin, Atchinson, Kan., and Jens in Pendelton, Oregon. The daughter, Christine lives at home. All were present at the funeral except Jens, who could not get here in time. One grand child survives him. He came to this country in the fall of 1891 and stayed during the winter in the state of New York. In the spring of 1893 he came west and stayed part of the time near Osage and part, near St. Ansgar until the fall of 1896 when her with his family moved to a farm near Carpenter where he lived twelve years. In the summer of 1909 he bought a home in Osage where he resided until his death, Saturday evening, April 22nd of this year. He died very suddenly of heart failure at the home of Chris Hanson north of Osage where he had gone to stay a few days. His age was 63 years, 6 months and 14 days. His wife died eleven months ago at their home in Osage. The funeral was held Tuesday, April 25, a short devotion at the home and services at the Lutheran church of which he was a member. Several of his countryman and friends from St. Ansgar attended the funeral. His five sons and one nephew were pall bearers and he was laid to rest beside his wife in the Osage cemetery.
