OBITUARY: Chauncey B. Johnson, 1842-1932, Mitchell Co., Iowa [Mitchell County Press -- 1932] Chauncey B. Johnson Chauncey B. Johnson was born in Charter Grove, DeKalb county, Ill., Sept. 14, 1842. He passed away May 2, 1932, at his home in Riceville, Iowa, where he has resided since 1904. Chauncey B. Johnson and Susie May Thompson were united in marriage at Sycamore Ill., Aug. 10, 1900. To this union was born one daughter, Eva. The deceased was a soldier in the Civil war. He was in the 105th Illinois infantry. He enlisted in 1863 and was mustered out in 1865. He leaves to mourn his loss, besides a host of relatives and friends, his wife, Susie Johnson and one daughter, Eva King, and seven grandchildren, of Riceville, Iowa. One adopted son, Earl Lettow, and family, of Des Moines, Iowa. The funeral services was held at the home at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, May 4, Rev. Mr. Bodenham officiating. The American Legion had charge of the services at the Riceville cemetery. Close relatives from out of town were George Thompson, Mrs. John Thompson and daughter, Mrs. George Larsen, and Bert Gustafson, of Sycamore, Ill. A nephew of Mr. Johnson's, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wright and daughter, Mrs. Mildred Wisher, of Mason City. Mrs. Wright is a niece of Mr. Johnson's. Mrs. Nora Foster, a niece of Mr. Johnson's; and Mr. and Mrs. Ed McInroy, a nephew, of Dodge Center, Minn., Earl Lettow and wife of Des Moines.
