OBITUARY: Delia Birda (Webster) Loveless, 1869-1905, Mitchell Co., Iowa [Osage News -- May 18, 1905] LOVELESS Delia Birda Webster was born December 18, 1869, at Rockford, Iowa, and died at her home at Orchard, May 12, 1905. When but thirteen years old her mother died. Soon after her father moved with the family to Osage and the responsibility of the household and with three younger children fell upon her. How true a mother even as a child she proved to be to these younger ones only they and those near to them could tell. During these years too of privation from those advantages for schooling and the like which girls usually enjoy, was evidently being developed those traits of motherliness which are so characteristic of her in later years. She attended the Cedar Valley Seminary and later taught school. In Charles City on March 15, 1895, she was united in marriage to Lee Jay Loveless. For the most part they have lived near Osage until four years ago they moved to Orchard. Two children, Ellen Marie, aged nine years, and Jennie Bird, aged twenty months are left motherless. Besides her husband are left her father, four sisters and five brothers. She united with the Baptist church when but sixteen years of age and maintained her membership until her death. The end came very suddenly. The serious nature of her illness was realized only a very little time before her death. The funeral services were held at the Baptist church on Monday afternoon conducted by the pastor Rev. H. B. Steelman, and the Rev.D. I. Coon who came up from Waverly to preach the funeral sermon.
