OBITUARY: Gertrude (Wolf) Mauer, 1911-2005, Mitchell Co., Iowa Posted August 10, 2005 on www.mcpress.com (Mitchell County Press-News) Gertrude Mauer Mass of Christian Burial for Gertrude Mauer, age 94, of Stacyville, Iowa, will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2005, at the Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial will be in the Visitation Cemetery in Stacyville. Gertrude died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home. Gertrude was born August 7, 1911, in Cohasset, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Sophia (Miller) Wolf. She moved to Osage, Iowa, when she was a child. Gertrude married Raymond Mauer on February 4, 1937, at the Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville, Iowa. She taught in rural school for a year before her marriage to Raymond. They lived and farmed outside of Stacyville for 28 years. Gertrude moved to Stacyville in 1965. She worked at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home. Gertrude was a member of Visitation Catholic Church and Christian Mothers. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son Robert Mauer; a grandson Eugene Mauer; her parents; two brothers, Clement and Fidelis Wolf; one sister Bernice Smith; an infant sister Wilma Wolf; and one son-in-law Will Klimek. Gertrude is survived by three sons, James (Mary) Mauer of Lisle, Illinois, Don (Bonnie) Mauer of Naperville, Illinois, Jerry (Carol) Mauer of Dunlap, Illinois; four daughters, Janice (Clem) Loecher of New Haven, Dorothy Klimek of Hayfield, Minnesota, Carol (Paul) Tilkes of Austin, Minnesota, Joyce (Rich) Hanke of Lakeville, Minnesota; one daughter-in-law, Joanne Mauer of Stacyville; 23 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Sister Mary Wilma Wolf of Cedar Rapids, Agnes (Rollie) Frye of Rockford, Illinois; Catherine Wolf of Loves Park, Illinois; Monica Berg of Greenville, South Carolina; and one brother, Vincent (Xoa) Wolf of Chillocothe, Missouri. Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, is in charge of arrangements.
