OBITUARY: Mrs. L. Pauline (Roach) McKinley, 1899-1982, Mitchell County, Iowa (Published: July 22, 1982, St. Ansgar Enterprise) Mrs. Pauline Mc Kinley Funeral In Plainfield Held Monday, July 19 Funeral services for Mrs. L. Pauline McKinley, 82, of Plainfield, who died Friday, July 16 at the Waverly Municipal hospital, were held Monday, July 19 at the First Baptist church in Plainfield with the Rev. Tom Harlan officiating. L. Pauline Roach was born November 4, 1899 in Plainfield, the daughter of Edwin and Addie (Farnsworth) Roach. She graduated from Plainfield high school, and then attended and graduated from Cornell College, Mt. Vernon. She taught school for several years and then returned to Plainfield to keep house for her father until his death in 1959. February 11, 1962, she married Harold L. McKinley in Plainfield. The couple made their home in St. Ansgar. Following Mr. McKinley's death in 1973, Mrs. McKinley moved back to Plainfield; was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star in Nashua; charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 472 in Plainfield and was a charter member of the Plainfield Women's club. Mrs. McKinley is survived by three stepsons, Hal and Don McKinley of St. Ansgar and Keith McKinley of Osage; several step and great-step grandchildren; eight nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one stepson, Phil McKinley, and two brothers, Howard L. Roach and J. Robert Roach. Burial was in Willow Lawn cemetery, Plainfield, with Rev. Harlan in charge of the committal services. Her family suggests that memorials be directed to either the First Baptist church or to the Plainfield Library.
