OBITUARY: Myrtle (Muffley) Laughlin, c1876-1936, Mitchell County, Iowa [Mitchell County Press March 19, 1936] Mrs Frank Laughlin Died in California; Buried here Today The remains of Mrs. Frank Laughlin, who passed away at Alta Meda, Calif., last week are being brought to Osage by the deceased's sister, Mrs. Mable Burke, and burial will be made in the family lot in the Osage cemetery, following a short committal service by the Rev. John D. Kern, pastor of the Baptist church. Mr. and Mrs. Laughlin went to California in December to spend the winter. Particulars of her death are unavailable yet as Mrs. Burke is at Mason City attending to arrangements. She came to Osage yesterday; then returned to Mason City this morning. Mrs. Laughlin was 60 years old, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Muffley, prominent residents of Osage many years ago when Mr. Muffley was a local grain dealer and owned extensive town and farm property. Myrtle Muffley and Frank Laughlin were married in Osage and have lived here since. They have no children.
