                                John Rauen

John J. Rauen, 84, of Stacyville, Iowa, died suddenly of heart attack
Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at the home of his son James in Ridgway, Colo.
John was born Oct. 14, 1915, in Stacyville, the son of Matt and Emma
(Stieger) Rauen. He attended school in Johnsburg.

He was married to Valeria Janning on Oct. 14, 1942, at Blooming Prairie.
They farmed the family homestead near Stacyville until 1981. John was a
member of the Visitation Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of
Forresters. 

He is survived by wife, Valeria Rauen, Stacyville; daughter, Katherine
(Richard) Engle, Mt. Vernon, Wash.; son, James Rauen (Kathy) Ridgeway,
Colo.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Martha (Leo)
Schneider, Adams, Margaret (William) Schneider, Adams, Ardela (Rueben)
Gilles, Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Kenneth; brother, Art;
sisters, Bernetta and Isabel.

Services were held on Saturday at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville
with the Fr. Joseph Schneider officiating.  Interment was in St. John's
Catholic Cemetery in Johnsburg.

Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home of Osage is in charge of arrangements.
