OBITUARY: Mrs. Veda S. (Seaton) Donald, 1916-2005, Mitchell County, Iowa Original version posted on www.mcpress.com - Aug. 24, 2005 Veda S. Donald Graveside services for Veda S. Donald, age 88, of Osage, were held Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at the Osage Cemetery in Osage, with Rev. Dennis Hanson officiating. Veda died Saturday August 20, 2005, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage. Veda was born December 13, 1916, on a farm near Osage, Iowa, she was the daughter of Roy and Hazel (Russell) Seaton. Veda attended Osage schools and graduated from high school in 1934. She was united in marriage to Verl C. Donald on August 25, 1936, they had one daughter. Verl was a teacher and coach. The couple lived in Melvin, Rockwell, Floyd and Plainfield, before retiring to Osage in 1979. She started the school lunch program in Floyd and headed the program in Plainfield, Iowa, after they moved there. Veda was a member of Eastern Star, and had a passion for reading. Veda was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Edwin Seaton; and her husband Verl C. Donald on May 14, 1989. She is survived by a brother, Dean Seaton of Osage; her daughter Phoebe Snittjer and her husband Charlie of Marietta, Georgia; a granddaughter, Melissa Gerace of Marietta, Georgia; and two great-grandchildren, Joseph and Mia Gerace of Marietta, Georgia.
