OBITUARY: Kurt S. Sprau, 1963-2005, Mitchell County, Iowa [Original version posted on www.mcpress.com - Sept. 7, 2005] Kurt S. Sprau Memorial services for Kurt S. Sprau, age 41, of Osage, were held Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, at the First United Methodist Church in Osage, with Rev. Dr. J. Samuel Subramanian officiating. Inurnment was in the Meservey Cemetery, Meservey, Iowa. Kurt died on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at his home in Osage of natural causes, pending medical examiner's investigation. Kurt was born November 13, 1963, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Sterling and Norma (Oakland) Sprau. Kurt graduated from Meservey-Thornton High School in 1982, and graduated from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa, in 1986. He passed his C.P.A. examination on his initial sitting in 1986. Kurt lived in Pella, Iowa, until 1992, when he moved to Osage. He was currently employed as chief financial officer at Curries/Graham in Mason City. Kurt was a member of the Iowa Society of C.P.A.'s. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Osage. He was preceded in death by his father Sterling Sprau in 1990. Kurt is survived by two daughters, Amanda Sprau, a student at Iowa State University in Ames, and Casey Sprau at home; a son Sterling Sprau at home; his mother Norma Sprau of Mason City; a sister Pam (Bob) Carlson of Meservey; a brother Scott (Jenee) Sprau of Meservey; six nieces and nephews; and a special relative Zoe Myers of Meservey.
