Rose Marion Fries Funeral November 27

Funeral services for Rose Marion Fries, 88, of St. Ansgar, who died Saturday, 
November 24, 2001, were held Tuesday, November 27 at First Lutheran Church 
here with Rev. Robert Porisch officiating.

Rose Marion Fries was born June 17, 1913 in Newburg Township, Mitchell County, 
daughter of Ole E. Thorson and Amelia Moe Thorson.  She was baptized and 
confirmed in the First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar.  She graduated from St. 
Ansgar High School in 1931 and from Waldorf College, Forest City, and from 
Hamilton Business College in Mason City.  In 1939 she started working for the 
US Weather Service in Kansas City until her retirement in 1972.

On January 22, 1949 Rose married William Fries of Kansas City and made their 
home in Kansas City until William's health failed and they moved to St. 
Ansgar.  William passed away August 4, 1989.

Rose made her home at Worth Living Center until she entered the St. Ansgar 
Good Samaritan Center on February 28, 1997.  She enjoyed reading and visiting 
with friends.

She was the last surviving member of the family of nine brothers and sisters.  
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William, brothers Roy, 
Clifford, Leon, Donald, Hubert, Annis; sisters Alma Sanders and Mildred Tesch; 
a niece and two nephews.  She is survived by a sister-in-law Rose Thorson of 
St. Ansgar; 16 nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews.

Entombment took place on Wednesday at the Mount Washington Cemetery, 
Independence, Missouri.
