A. Middleton Wed Soldier Sentinel October 1935 _________________ At the Soldier Valley Lutheran Church south of town Saturday forenoon occurred the marriage of Miss Helen Norby to Caryl A. Middleton. Miss Corrinne Cusick and Orvan Hanson were attendants. Rev. Gabriel Tweets(sic) performed the ceremony in the presence of the immediate relatives of the bride and groom. Miss Bethine Skow was at the organ. Mrs. Middleton is the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ole G. Norby, well known farmers who reside south of Soldier. She graduated from the Soldier High School in 1930 with high honors as a student and during her school days was active in school activities, especially in plays and speech work. After graduation she entered St. Olaf college at Northfield, Minn. leaving her studies there the first year to accept a position as bookkeeper in the Soldier Valley Savings Bank, where she has been employed until just lately. Helene has always been active in church and choir work. She has a host of friends who wish her happiness and success. Mr. Middleton is a son of Dr. and Mrs. A. C. Middleton of Grundy Center, Iowa. He graduated from high school at that place, later attending Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls. From college he came directly to Soldier where he accepted a teaching job last year. His ability as a teacher was proven when the school board rehired him at a raise in salary. He is especially good in speech work and his ability to entertain a crowd has been proven many times here. Mr. Middleton has made many friends since coming to Soldier. After the wedding the happy couple left for Des Moines for a short trip and returned Sunday. We have not been informed as to just where the newlyweds will live in Soldier. The Sentinel joins with the many friends of the couple in extending congratulations and best wishes.
