AND MRS. ALFRED OLSON CELEBRATE SILVER WEDDING (1945 – by the text) Mr. and Mrs. Alfred M. Olson of Carroll and formerly of Soldier celebrated their silver wedding anniversary at the Soldier church parlors Sunday, May 27 by observing “open house”. The event was postponed from Saturday, May 19 on account of confirmation services at Omaha at which the Darrell Parker daughters were confirmed. The program consisted of three songs by the Parker girls, “The Lord’s Prayer”, “Always”, and “I Had a Talk With the Lord”, accompanied at the piano by Miss Alice Wingate; a recitation by Miss Nancy Hanson and John Nelsen, Virginia Hanson and Sharon Graetz, and remarks by Rev. E. E. Hoff. The table was decorated in silver and blue with a large wedding cake as center piece. Mr. and Mrs. Olson received a gift of silver and were presented with a silver tree made of a tree limb with 96 quarters and silver dollar(sic) hanging on the limbs as leaves. In the evening they all went to the Carl Kaatz home for a visit at which time the cake was served. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Christianson, Alfred’s only living aunt and uncle, who will celebrate their golden wedding March 4, 1946. Mr. and Mrs. Olson were married at the south church on May 19, 1920 by the late Rev. H. K. Sunner. Mrs. Sophie Johnson and Adolph Nelsen were witnesses. They have one son, Cpl. Willard Olson who is serving with the army in the Pacific. Those present besides the honored couple were: Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Parker and family of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Welch and family of Audubon, Mr. and Mrs. Ival Outhouse of Crete, Nebr.; Mrs. Frank Wilson, Richard and Francine of Moorhead; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Olson and Evonne of Mapleton, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Olson and family of Denison, Mrs. G. M. Johnson of Oak Park, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Larson and family of Omaha, Mrs. Elaine Irwin of Omaha, Mrs. Hilda Thoreson of Cedar Falls, Mr. Chris Krogh of Ida Grove, Mrs. Martha Nelsen, Mr. and Mrs. Jalmer Nelsen and family, Adolph Swenson and family, Mrs. Adolph Nelsen and family, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Hanson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kaatz, Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Britton and Karen, Mr. and Mrs. C. R.
