Text: Norman Allen 101 Years Old Passes Away
Monona's Oldest Citizen Passed Away at Home of Daughter at Ticonic Sunday
He had Been a Resident of this County the Larger Part of his Life
Funeral Held Wednesday at Ticonic Church
Norman Allen, Monona County's oldest resident 101 years old, passed away
Sunday, February 15th, 1942 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mable Anderson
who resides six miles west of Castana and where he had made his home.
Mr. Allen had been in good health until a few weeks ago when he became ill
and began to fail. His death was due to old age.  Mr. Allen was a central 
figure
at an open house program arranged in his honor on his last birthday, at which 
time
the Onawa Community Club presented to him a large and beautiful birthday cake.
He was active up to his last sickness, and had a very keen mind and could
relate some most interesting stories of the pioneer life of this community.
He was a farmer most of his life.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Mable Anderson, Mrs. Catherine Custer,
and Mrs. Emma Jenkins, of Ticonic; Mrs. George Carroll of Onawa; and Mrs.
Josephine Allen of Minnesota and several grand children and great grand 
children.

Funeral services were held at Ticonic Church on Wednesday at 3:00 p. m. 
Rev. Mr. Pruitt was the officiating pastor and burial was made in the Center 
Cemetery.
Another one of our beloved pioneers has answered the call of the Great Father.
