He is survived by his wife, Edith; four children all at home; two step- children; one brother, Lorne of Riverside, California and step-mother, Dorothy Allmon of Turin. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Conger Allmon in 1944 and his father Lyle H. Allmon in 1961. Leland was a basketball letterman and 1939 graduate of Soldier High School. In 1940 he enlisted in the U. S. Navy, served with the Atlantic Fleet, participated in World War II operations in the European Theater and was honorably discharged in 1946. His Navy rating was Ship-fitter 1st Class. He was employed by the Fairfield Plumbing Co. and in real estate sales for National Homes. The funeral was on Tuesday, May 5, 1964 at the Sheridan Funeral Home in Lancaster with the Rev. Frank A. Noel officiating. American Legion Post 11 conducted graveside military rites for the burial in Maple Grove cemetery at Lancaster. He underwent surgery for glandular cancer in October 1963 and seemed to be recovering, but the disease spread and was diagnosed as beyond medical help in April, 1964.
