Amunson Rites Held                   (From the collection of Vivian Norby

	Mrs. Olaf (Hanora) Amunson, a lifetime resident of the Soldier 
community, passed away at St. Luke’s Lutheran hospital in Sioux City last 
Thursday, August 3.  She had been ill only a few days and had been active 
about her home and yard shortly before entering the hospital for major surgery.
	Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 5 at the 
Soldier Lutheran Country Church.  Pastor Harry C. Sorensen officiated.  A 
quartet of Gene Brenden, Gordon Foss, Gordon Swenson and Jim Severson sang and 
were accompanied by Mrs. Charles Dommer, Jr.  Interment was in Soldier Valley 
Cemetery under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier.  Casket 
bearers were Keith, Ronald, Dale, Donald, Garland and Gary Amunson.
	Mrs. Hanora Amunson, daughter of Martin and Adeline Clemon, was born 
April 7, 1886 at Soldier, Iowa and passed away at a Sioux City hospital August 
3, 1967.
	She was united in marriage to Olaf Amunson on September 20, 1906 at 
Soldier, Iowa.  Mr. Amunson died on April 29, 1963.
	Survivors include five sons, Clifford, Milton, Lowell and Merrill, all 
of Soldier and Kermit of Ute; four daughters, Mrs. Elaine Norby of Soldier, 
Mrs. Paul Flynn of Ute, Mrs. Wallace Hanson of Sioux City, Mrs. Vernon York of 
Lancaster, Calif.; 35 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; three 
brothers, Walter Clemon of Ute, Victor Clemon of Irwin and Dolphin Clemon of 
Soldier; one sister, Mrs. Rozella Christman of Ute, and a number of other 
relatives and many friends, all who mourn her passing.  She was preceded in 
death by one son, Leo, during World War II.
